How to download and view AFL games
Sunday, May 4th, 2008I’ve had several requests to explain how to obtain and watch the AFL games, so for those without Setana subscriptions:
1. Download, install and learn how to use Mu Torrent: BitTorrent is a file sharing program. If you have a home internet connection, simply download and install. I do not unnecessarily recommend you use this program at work, unless you are a “inturnetz pro”. Link
2. Locate the “torrent” files for the game you want to watch. I’ve had best results using this website, which some random poster to the BWE site shared (kudos random poster) Link
Simply type in the name of the team, game, round or year you want to see a game from. While there is no guarantee that the game you want to see will be hosted…you’ll probably find anything from 2008.
3. Once the game has been fully downloaded, you might have problems watching the file. I’ve noticed that a lot of the .mp4 files from the 2008 season don’t work with Quicktime (sound if off, file is choppy, etc). Use this program to view the games: Link
VLC player plays just about everything…very robust…at the expense of pretty features, but who cares…we just want our AFL in Hi-Def!
Edit: This year’s project will be to write instructions for how to burn the games onto DVD, for watching in a regular DVD player.
